How do you know if it’s a Want or a Need?

We have kicked off July with one of my favorite pillars - Living with Intention. What does it mean to start each day with intention? Read on to find out!
Happy 4th of July!
If you are in the U.S. you may be reading this before getting ready for a family BBQ, or maybe you’re on your summer vacation. Wherever you are, and whatever you’re doing, I invite you to try something: take a minute to set your intention for the day.
Do you want ease? Joy? Connection? Fun? Love? Pick one thing and then say out loud ‘My intention for the day is ________.’
For me, that’s what living with intention is all about.
It’s about choosing what you want more of and taking action to get it. Simply stating it out loud will set your intention into action.

So why is this so important as you enter into this new phase of your journey?
Now that your kids are getting older, you may find yourself with more time to start thinking about what you want more of. This is a drastic departure from the ‘pinball machine’ you found yourself in when the kids were little.
Do you remember those days?
Chaotically bouncing from school, to work, to soccer practice to homework to getting dinner on the table.
Wow! It makes me exhausted just thinking about it!
I don’t think I was the only mom who occasionally locked myself in the bathroom for 5 minutes just to catch my breath!
I don’t think I have to tell you that that is not empowering!
Do you know what IS empowering? Choosing what YOU want more of, and taking action to get it.
That’s what intention is really all about.

So, if you think about it, what is something you want more of?
Maybe you want better health? Or more joy? Or to travel? Everyone's priorities are different and that’s okay!
Whichever way you slice it, living with intention can apply to one or all areas of your life and this week’s powerful Pillar is all about understanding who You really are in this stage of your journey and getting crystal clear about what You really want.

Dedicating the time to journal each and every day helps you make intentional choices and evaluate the path you’re on. (If you can…why not treat yourself to a beautiful new journal that speaks to you?)

And, I want you to remember that this is an ongoing learning process so it’s essential to listen to yourself with compassion, rather than judgment.
