As a woman in midlife, you have better things to do than to be paralyzed by uncertainty, doubt and overwhelm! That’s why I designed the 6 Pillars of my Live BRIGHTer program – to help you get started with moving forward, one step at a time. Be Brave

Bravery and courage are the antidotes to the fear that is keeping you stuck.

Midlife transitions bring with them a lot of intense emotions, whether you’re sending your kids off to college, experiencing change in your relationships, caring for aging parents, or planning for retirement. Contemplating what comes next can be really scary – but if you want to build a life you love, you can’t let fear and doubt sit in the driver’s seat. Fear may be your brain’s way of trying to keep you ‘safe’ so you can avoid facing rejection or failure, but constantly succumbing to it can leave you feeling stuck. That’s where the Being Brave pillar comes in. It’s all about learning to recognize what your fears are and how they’re holding you back.

 

Once you learn to spot your fears you can move through them and into what comes next! It’s time to kick fear out of the driver’s seat, push past your edge, and take some risks so you can grow. Being Brave is all about getting out of your comfort zone – and it is a critical part of building a life you love.

Your relationships help you to feel grounded and whole, whether they’re with friends, family, or others in the community at large. The sense of connection those relationships bring provides you with love, joy, and a sense of belonging. It’s in your relationships that you will find critical support when you most need it – especially as you face the challenging transitions that come at midlife. That’s why strong relationships are crucial – but they don’t just happen.

Living with Intention is at the heart of building a life you love – but as a woman in midlife, it’s likely the last thing you’re used to doing. You’re not alone. So much of how we spend our days as women is dictated by the roles we fill. Whether you’re a mom, a wife, a girlfriend, or even an organizational leader, you’re likely so busy coping with your to-do list that you have little time to think about what comes next for you – let alone intentionally plan for it. It can feel like you’re in a pinball machine, bouncing from one event to the next. As you look ahead to your midlife transformation though, it’s time to leave that behind and start Living with Intention. That means putting effort into mindfully and intentionally choosing what you want more of in your life, creating a vision, and putting a plan in place to get there. It takes work to Live with Intention, and this pillar will guide you through the process so you can build the life of passion, purpose, and joy that you truly deserve!

Midlife is a time of profound change where we transition into the next phase of our lives. It’s a period of transformation that can leave us feeling incredibly unsettled though. There is just so much uncertainty involved with navigating newness and figuring out what’s next. That’s where the Practicing Gratitude pillar comes in – and it’s about more than just saying ‘thank you’ for things. This pillar will help you develop a regular practice of gratitude – which is one of the most powerful things you can do to keep yourself feeling balanced in the face of uncertainty. In fact, studies have linked practicing gratitude with increased happiness, more satisfaction with life, and greater resiliency. Gratitude helps you be present to all the blessings you have in your life, and you’ll find that mindfully focusing on them will increase your levels of joy and help you feel more grounded.

 

You likely have a lot to be grateful for, but it’s easy to lose sight of all those things when you’re feeling completely unsettled. That’s entirely normal at this time of life. This pillar will help to ground you as you navigate forward into everything that comes next!

Getting and staying healthy are the keys to living a fulfilling, joyful life.

In my work with midlife women, we talk a lot about choice. It’s the choices you make – and the actions that arise from them – that determine what your life will look like next. As author James Clear so brilliantly says, “Every action you take is a vote for the person you wish to become.” This is especially true when it comes to your physical, mental, and spiritual health. The truth is, as you move through your midlife transformation and transition into the next phase of your life, the actions you take to prioritize your health will pay enormous dividends. The opposite is also true, unfortunately – the areas of your health that you neglect will detract from your experiences in midlife and beyond. You will enjoy a much richer experience in your coming years if you take stock of your health, figure out where you need to affect change, and put a plan in place to make it happen. That’s what the Prioritize Health pillar is all about. Of course, the specifics will look different for every woman in midlife, but they could entail anything from changing your eating habits, to getting more active, learning to meditate, or joining a local church group.

 

This pillar will take you through the process of figuring out what areas of your health need attention so you can invest your time and energy on strengthening them. This isn’t about changing everything overnight either – because that kind of approach sets you up to fail. The Prioritize Health pillar will help you make small shifts in your physical, mental, and spiritual health so you succeed with getting the most out of everything that comes next!

Many women arrive at the precipice midlife having lost touch with who they are and what matters most to them. It can be very confusing and overwhelming – when you look up one day and realize that you no longer know yourself. It’s something that happens gradually, without you really noticing. You move through the years taking care of everyone else’s needs but your own, and your authentic self becomes buried beneath all the roles and expectations you take on. Living Your Truth is all about taking the journey back to uncover your authentic self – so you can rediscover what matters most to you, and really, what you are all about. Like most personal growth, it takes some hard work to get there – but this pillar guides you through the process.

 

It helps you do what it takes to get curious, ask hard questions of yourself, and move through everything that has dimmed your inner light over the years. It’s about getting to know yourself again, so you can step forward in your fullest expression and have the most robust life possible over the coming years. This pillar will guide you back to YOU so you can stand in your truth, live in your purpose, and share yourself and all your incredible gifts with the world. 

Truth
