Whoa! Don’t get needy

Your Magenta Monday Magic.

This week we’re talking about cultivating our relationship with our kids.

Many of you are entering a new season in your relationship with them.

You may find yourself walking the tightrope of knowing that the grand prize for raising our kids well is letting them go, but at the same time, grieving a little bit over the passage of this huge chapter in your life.

How you handle your conflicting emotions may impact your relationship with your kids.

Are you being too clingy?

Are you worrying about them constantly? (Ok, this was totally me so I relate).

I know it’s hard, but sitting around all day crying into your coffee isn’t going to help.

When you’re feeling overly needy and depending on them for your sense of fulfillment, do you think that your kids will be chomping at the bit to call you?

No!

In fact, they may start to keep their distance which will only serve to exacerbate your feelings of loss.

If any of this sounds familiar, take a deep breath and know you are not alone!

“Raising your child well is hard. But learning to let them go out into the world and prove that you did your job right is even tougher.” – J. Craine

Acknowledge those feelings of loss, grief, sadness, whatever it is - and then get into action taking this opportunity to focus on YOU.

I’ve realized that when you are identifying and exploring your own interests, you are way less likely to pine for your kids.

And guess what?

And just like the boy I had a crush on in high school when I stopped obsessing and got busy doing my own thing, the phone started ringing!

Go figure.

Monday Mindshift

Just like the seasons, it’s not a bad idea to recognize that your season of life is evolving and instead of resisting it, why not choose to embrace that shift?

Let’s keep diving deeper into the inquiry process, so you can become clear on who you are outside of being a mom and explore new roads that make life so much brighter.

This is the way it’s supposed to be, and I promise you it will get better.

So, this week why don’t you pick yourself up off your couch, change out of your loosies and spend 30 minutes every morning thinking about what YOU want to do now that you finally have the time to do it.

Mama, It’s your turn now.

Love Xoxo,
