Solving the mystery of you

Your Magenta Monday Magic.

Last month we talked about relationships – and about the most important relationship in our life being the one we have with ourselves. We started tapping into how to strengthen that relationship with ourselves and how it will help guide us down the pathway to purpose.

Now I’d like to talk about living your truth, something that’s also a key part of that journey.

What does it mean to “live your truth”? It’s not just something we write on our to-list alongside ‘wash the car’ and ‘buy groceries’. Living your truth is a lot more complicated than that – especially as you stand at this place where your roles and sense of self are shifting for the first time in years.

Initially, the concept of 'Living your Truth' may seem straightforward, akin to a mundane task on your to-do list such as 'wash the car'. However, it is a much more complex and intricate idea, particularly for moms going through a midlife crisis.

Living your truth is about bringing what’s in your physical realm into alignment with your spiritual realm – it’s about stepping into the embodiment of your truth and ensuring that the actions you take align with what your soul calls for.

… but you can’t live in your truth if you don’t know what it is. That’s why self-discovery is so important.

If you’ve been following along, chances are you are on a journey to uncover and excavate who you are at your very core. You’re attempting to rediscover who you are beyond being a mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a daughter-in-law, or a friend. You’re peeling back the layers you have packed on for the past 18+ years to get at the truth of who you are underneath.

Reinventing yourself after an empty nest can be a challenging process, and despite having over 20 years of experience in this work, I still find myself pushed to my limits. This is especially true when it comes to uncovering and voicing my truth.

It’s almost like you’re solving a mystery – only this time it isn’t Colonel Mustard in the library with a pipe – it’s living her life with joy and ease!

So how do you begin to find your truth? And once you do, how do you find the courage to actually live it?

As with any part of a personal growth journey, it is a process.

This is a lifelong commitment. As I’ve shared before, I’ve been doing this work for the past 20+ years, and I am regularly challenged to continue growing and pushing my edge – especially when it comes to discovering and speaking my truth. Whether it’s establishing healthy boundaries with my son, or speaking up to ask for a different table at a restaurant – whatever it looks like, I continually work on tapping into what my own truth is, so I can ensure that I am growing towards living it.

Why is it so important to discover and express your truth?

Because you are here for a reason! And guess what – it’s not solely to chauffeur your kids around town and get dinner onto the table while making sure Susie doesn’t miss her ortho appointment and Jimmy gets to school on time!

Yes, there was a time and place for all of those things to be at the center of your life – when you intentionally and willingly committed to making your purpose about being a Mom – when you were living your truth as a mother. But now things are changing – and it’s time for YOU.

It's time for you to live your life and share your gifts with the world.

It’s time for you to get clear on your truth and own your story.

If all of this feels overwhelming, take a deep breath. Throughout the month, I’m going to give you clues to look for so you can begin to solve the mystery of you!

We’re going to follow up on last month’s time spent in self-inquiry. If you think back – you were dedicating 10 minutes a day to getting clarity about what you are passionate about. To discovering what brings you joy. To leaning into what really matters to you.

That was all about listening to yourself as you sat in reflection to see what came up – because the answers you are seeking are all inside you. So I want to remind you again that all you need to do is to tap into what’s inside you by carving out the time to stop, reflect and listen.

This month we're going to explore how to find purpose as an empty nester by tapping into the clues our body gives us. We're going to focus on paying attention and getting really good at noticing how our body feels when we're on the right track toward our truth or when we're on the wrong track.

It might seem silly to think about paying attention to your body – but this is about paying attention to someone who has spent much of the past couple of decades at the back of the line – YOU. It may feel uncomfortable to put yourself in the spotlight like this but have some fun with it.

This is where the magic happens!

Monday Mindshift

It’s the 1° shift that makes the biggest difference over time.

Your truth is in you, but you don’t need to put all kinds of pressure on yourself to try and figure it out. This isn’t a game of CLUE and we’re not on the clock!

Try having some fun with this – relax into it and bring the kind of playful, inquisitive energy to it that you would bring to a board game or a murder mystery. There is no one grading you or standing by with a stop-watch – you’re allowed to have some fun!

Start by just getting curious. Continue taking time out each morning for daily contemplation, self-inquiry, and mindful reflection, and start paying attention to how your body feels. Is there stiffness anywhere in your body? Are you holding tension anywhere? Is your breathing deep or shallow? Look for the clues your body is presenting you.

As you practice paying attention to them, they’re going to help you solve the ‘mystery’ of you – they will guide you towards what your truth is, so you can truly step into living it.

Love,
