We took this family selfie the week after I'd moved my eldest son into his new shared house - 350 kms away from home. I returned with my youngest son for a visit and here we are mid-tour of his university - clearing enjoying ourselves in each other's company. What's unseen is my immense gratitude for the moment, because although we're far apart geographically, we remain incredibly close. I'm thankful that we enjoy spending time together, being silly, sharing inside jokes, and supporting and loving each other. Who could ask for anything more than that? ♥

One Million Magenta Moments
Join The One Million Magenta Moments movement in creating a ripple of joy across the globe!
Have you ever noticed how we focus so intently on seeking out the BIG things to make us happy that we often fail to notice the little ones? But within these tiny moments lie tremendous gifts of joy, love and connection.
I call these Magenta Moments. And I am on a mission to collect one million of them.
Why? Because I believe that by identifying and sharing those small moments that bring us joy, we inspire others to do the same.
And by doing that, we create a ripple effect. A ripple effect of joy, connection and love that can radiate out into the world and lift us up.
Will you join me?
What Is A Magenta Moment?
The warmth of the sun on your back on your morning walk.
A long overdue phone call with an old friend.
A hummingbird flitting amongst the flowers in your yard.
Let’s face it, life can be hard sometimes. Some days when it feels like the sun may never shine again. Of course we know that’s not true, but in the midst of pain and struggle, it sure feels that way.
Been there. Done that.
But here’s what I’ve learned in my 20+ year journey of self growth – even when I am surrounded by darkness – I can always find a little bit of light in the small things.
Do those little things clear away the darkness? Not even close. But in those moments of respite, I catch a spark – one that lets me know things are going to be okay.
All it takes is the ability to pause, take a deep breath, and notice. It doesn’t cost anything. It doesn’t even take a whole lot of time.
They’re always there. Whether you’re down in the dumps, or walking on sunshine, there are moments of joy all around you – Magenta Moments.
My Magenta Moment
Beyond the joy on display in this ‘post-dip’ photo of my daughter and I, what’s also captured here is the start of a new narrative for me – one of ease, flow, and swimming in the ocean.
When I paused to reflect on this photo, I realized I had cemented a story in my mind about the beach back when my kids were small – one that focused on the inconveniences of traffic, parking, and sandy cleanup – that sucked all the joy out of going to the beach.
This is a Magenta Moment because it shows me reframing a long held narrative and rediscovering joy with someone I love because of it.

What a great picture! It's so bittersweet when the kids move away. I'm so glad that you were able to spend some time together and I'm sure it made him proud to show it off.
